One held closer than the other
The first set aside for midnight
A taste sweet and lingering
Soft and sharp on my tongue
Held fast by the sun
Brought forth by the moon
Stinging my very essence
Making my soul sing
Giving me a joyous pain
The other comforting and warm
Embracing but unlasting
Smelling of sweet
That can never be had
There for a second
Then devoured
Like the sun on the horizon
Warm at first
Then leaving us with just a memory
Killing one another
One as hateful as the other
Bittersweet blasphemy
In a world that won’t except
The taste of
Blood and Chocolate
